Skiing from the door
The ski bus stops 50 metres from the front door, Fageralm is 600 metres away, and one ski pass takes you as far as you like. This is what a ski day from Zonnen-Alp looks like.
How a ski day goes
The skis are already waiting
The house has its own ski room, so your skis stay dry and nothing needs fetching from the car in the morning.
A fifty-metre walk
The ski bus stops 50 metres from the door. With your lift ticket the ride is free; the bus runs to Fageralm and on to Reiteralm.
Fageralm: quiet and sunny
A sunny high plateau at 1,850 metres with 15 kilometres of groomed piste, 8 kilometres blue and 7 kilometres red. At the valley station there is a children's area for first turns, and mountain huts along the way for a break.
Further afield, if you like
Reiteralm is 4 kilometres away, and the ski bus goes there. With the Ski amadé pass you can also ski the rest of Schladming-Dachstein, plus Zauchensee and Flachau: one pass, up to 760 kilometres of piste and 260 lifts.
Back home
Wet ski gear goes in the washing machine, and the three balconies look out on the mountains. The owners are often in Forstau themselves in winter, so a tip for tomorrow is never far away.

Families
The children's area at the valley station, wide blue pistes and a bus that stops 50 metres away: no lugging small children and skis up the road.
Easy-going skiers
Fageralm is the quiet, sunny one. Plenty of room on the piste, a hut for coffee, and back to the balcony in the afternoon.
Keen skiers
The ski bus takes you to Fageralm and Reiteralm. The rest of Schladming-Dachstein, Zauchensee and Flachau are on the same pass; for those you take the car.
Good to know
- The ski bus is free with a valid lift ticket, groups excepted. Timetable and season dates are published by Reiteralm Bergbahnen (reiteralm.at); check them before you travel.
- Fageralm and Reiteralm belong to Schladming-Dachstein in Ski amadé.
- The house has a ski room, so your skis stay dry. And there is a washing machine for wet ski gear.
- The minimum stay is three nights. You send a request and Joke replies personally with the price; only then is the booking confirmed.
